Özet:

On the occasion of the centenary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, “The Republic, Architecture and the City: The Legacy of 100 Years” International Conference organized by Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Architecture aims to draw a multi-scaled picture of the history of spatial design in the Republican period. 

Through sessions of paper presentations, panels, and exhibitions, the changes experienced in the design practices with the establishment of the Republic and the evolution of design ideas through the different political and economic periods during the one hundred year old history of the Republic, will be discussed with the goal to better understand the past, present and future of architecture and related fields of design and planning in Türkiye. 

With this aim we invite papers within the disciplines of architecture and urban design, interior design and industrial design across all three time periods of the Republic, i.e. 1923-50, 1950-80, 1980-2023 eras, addressing topics that may include but are not limited to the following:

• Actors who shaped architecture during the Republican period
• Architectural education in the Republican period
• Conservation of the architectural heritage of the Republican period
• Architectural competitions and their contributions 
• Spatial design and art
• Spatial policies of the Republican period
• Foresight for the future
