Çalışmanın amacı ilkokul İngilizce ders kitaplarında değerlere yer verilme durumunun ne olduğunu belirlemektir. Araştırma nitel bir çalışma olup; verileri doküman analizi tekniği ile elde edilmiştir. 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında devlet okullarında okutulmakta olan ilkokul İngilizce ders kitapları veri kaynağı olarak kullanılmıştır. Ders kitaplarındaki değerleri tespit etmek için Değer İnceleme Formu oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmada verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmış; elde edilen verilerin frekans ve yüzde değerleri verilmiş; bulgular alıntılarla desteklenmiştir. Kodlayıcılar arası Miles ve Huberman güvenirlik katsayısı %84’dür. Ders kitaplarında en fazla karşılaşılan değerler 2.sınıfta sevgi, sağlıklı olmaya önem verme, dostluk ve sorumluluk; 3.sınıfta sevgi ve sağlıklı olmaya önem verme; 4.sınıfta özdenetim ve sorumluluk değerleridir. Adalet, dürüstlük, saygı ve fedakârlık değerleri ise hiç karşılaşılmayan ya da çok az karşılaşılan değerlerdir. İncelenen kitaplarda değerlere 2. ve 3.sınıf ders kitaplarında en çok resimlerde yer verilirken; 4.sınıf ders kitabında ise resim, ses ve metin dosyalarında hemen hemen eşit yer verildiği görülmektedir.
The aim of the study is to determine the extent to which values are found in English textbooks in primary schools. It is a descriptive and qualitative study, and the data were obtained through document analysis technique. The primary school English textbooks used in state schools during 2021-2022 school year were used as the resource of the data. In order to determine the values in the textbooks, The Value Analysis Form was formed. The data were analyzed through descriptive analysis, the frequency and percentage of the obtained data were shown, and the results were supported with evidences. Miles and Huberman interrater reliability coefficient for the coders is 84%. The findings show that the most frequent values in English textbooks are love, caring about health, friendship and responsibility in the second grade, love and caring about health in the third grade, and self-control and responsibility in the fourth grade. The values of justice, honesty, respect and altruism are either rare or do not exist at all. In addition, values are mostly included in illustrations in the second and third grade textbooks, while the fourth grade one has an almost equal share of values in illustrations, audio files and written texts.
