Özet

This study analyzes the female employment time series in Turkey and BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) for the period 2000–2022 within the framework of fractal analysis and chaos theory. The aim is to reveal the nonlinear and long-memory structure of female employment rates and to assess the persistence of trends and the level of unpredictability. The data were obtained from the World Bank, ILO, and UNDP; analyses were conducted using the R/S method through Hurst exponent and fractal dimension calculations. Findings show that female employment rates in all countries exhibit long-memory characteristics, indicating that past trends strongly influence future trajectories. Countries such as Turkey and India demonstrate highly persistent trends (H > 1), while South Africa stands out with low persistence and high volatility. The study also highlights the explanatory power of chaos theory by demonstrating that external shocks such as the pandemic can have disproportionate effects on female employment. The results underscore the need for long-term, multidimensional, and crisis-resilient policy designs to enhance women’s labor force participation.
