Abstract

English language teachers in Turkey face many challenges as they fulβill their

professional responsibilities. The complex nature of the educational system,

diversity of students, constant change of methodologies can be stated among

many others which lead to stress and negative emotional experiences. This

chapter aims to summarize an understanding of positive psychology in general,

some of the problems Turkish English teachers encounter at work and

suggestions for teacher and learner well- being in ELT.
