Biography

She received her undergraduate education at Istanbul University, Faculty of Science, Department of Astronomy and Space Sciences. In May 2003, she completed her master's degree at the Astronomy and Space Sciences Program of Istanbul University, Institute of Science and Technology. She started her doctoral studies in the same program in the 2003-2004 Fall semester. In October 2003, she started working as a research assistant at IKU Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Mathematics and Computers. She continued her duty at IKU with the establishment of IKU Physics Department in 2004. During her doctorate, she conducted observational studies on the properties of metallic stars. Between 2006 and 2007, she was a visiting researcher at The Citadel University in Charleston, South Carolina, USA, for her doctoral studies and completed her PhD in 2009. She is currently continuing her studies on stellar atmospheres and the chemical abundances of peculiar stars. In addition to her scientific research and administrative duties, she also carries out activities and projects on Astronomy education and the popularization of science through Astronomy. She has been a member of the TÜBİTAK Science Olympiad Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympic Committee since December 2021 and takes part in TÜBİTAK BİDEB Curriculum Development studies. She served as the Turkey Representative of IAU NOC - International Astronomical Union National Outreach Coordinator of Turkiye between 2012 and 2018, and as the Secretary General of the Turkish Astronomical Society between September 2016 and 2018. She has been organising Astronomy Teacher Trainings with AstroBilgi committee since 2006. Since 2019, she has been working as IAU OAE NAEC - Turkiye National Astronomy Education Coordinator of International Astronomical Union Office of Astronomy for Education. She is currently a member of the Turkish Astronomical Society Public Outreach Committee, NAEC chair and contact person.
